Bean Soup


1-1/2 cups chopped ham 1 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped celery 1 tsp. garlic salt
2 tsp. salt 3/4 tsp. black pepper
3-1/2 tbs. oil 5-3/4 cups water
1 lb. great northern beans


Soak beans in water overnight.  Sauté ham, onion, & celery in oil.  Add to beans.  Cook approximately 3 hours.  About 20 minutes before done, add salts & pepper. Remove 2 cups of beans, mash & return to beans.
