Spiced Oven Spareribs

4 to 5 pounds pork spareribs, cut in serving-size pieces 
1/2 cup soy sauce 
3/4 cup water 
1 cup orange marmalade 
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 
dash pepper 
1/2 teaspoon (rounded) ground ginger 

Place ribs, meaty side down, in a shallow roasting pan. Roast at 450 for 30 minutes. Remove and drain off excess fat. Turn ribs meaty side up and lower oven temperature to 350 roast 60 minutes longer.

Combine remaining ingredients in a bowl; pour over ribs. Bake 30 minutes longer, or until ribs are tender, basting with the sauce a few times.
